AIR-CNDITIONING SYSTEM DESIGN FOR A METRO STATION-
Many major citiese around the world are facing severe traffic congestion problems and the associated air pollution problems brought about by vehicles moving along densely populated areas. Governments of these major cities are considering construction of underground metro systems to alleviate the problems for their communities.
The air-conditioning system is a vital system of an underground railway. Not only is it necessary to control the environmental condition during normal operation, for passenger comfort, what is equally important is the need for the system to control the smoke propagation in case of a fire occurring inside the station. This is to ensure that safe evacuation means is provided to the passengers when a fire breaks out at the station or on the train.
