Evaluation and Analysis of Natural Ventilation in High-Rise Residential Building

More and more attention has been paid to ventilation, sunshine, energy consumption and indoor air climate of high rising residential building. For the purpose of finding out and assessing of the ventilation condition of high rise residential building, indoor air parameters were measured in 24 families of one typical building according to GB/T 18883-2002 “Standard for Indoor Air Qualities”. Measured parameters concerned temperature, RH, ventilation rate and concentration of CO2. Questionnaire was also included in this investigate. The questions dealt with ventilative method, cooking habit, indoor air satisfaction etc. The results showed that high rising residential building had good heating system and temperature conservational ability. However 22 out of 24 families fail to attain the standard in RH, CO2 concentration in 10 families was over 0.1%, and ventilation rate in all 24 families was under 30m3/h·person when the windows were closed. From the questionnaire, 63% of the occupants rated dissatisfaction with the indoor air quality, and more than 79% of them complained the peculiar smell from the other residential unit. The investigate results indicated that the ventilative conditions in high rising residential building are not satisfied.
